He was an architect of temples and shrines. But, he found a commonality about arch between Japanese architecture and sword. Then, he sat his heart on becoming a swordsmith. He started to study under Hiroki Hirokuni(Mukansa swordsmith) in 1973. He became a swordsmith that was certified by Ministry of Education in 1989. He was awarded 天皇賞(the emperor's award) at the competition which was opened in 永山会(Nagayama party) 永山光幹(Koukan Nagayama:a living national treasure of sword polisher) organizes. Powerful and valiant...It's his characteristic. He is the swordsmith as known to special people or professional. and alos, he has many fans. This work is the copy(utsushi) of the National treasure Hocho was made by Swordsmith Masamune. The great sword polisher was chose by 藤(Tou) changed it to cooking hocho. A famous knife maker made the handle and saya. This knife is consighment from the bereaved of Kazuaki Sakuma. |
